3 Ways to Get Rid of Gout Pain Naturally

Gout pain can be very aggravating.  Not only is the pain intense, but it can also temporarily disable you.  Unfortunately, gout pain can last several days to weeks, depending on the severity of the attack.  Therefore, it's important to get this pain under control as quickly as possible.  There are prescription medications you can use such as Indomethacin.  I have used this drug and it works.  But it still doesn't get rid of the pain quickly.  Not to mention, taking any NSAID over an extended period can lead to increased risk of heart attack or stroke.   Unfortunately, there are no quick solutions to getting rid of an attack short of cortisone shots, but those aren't healthy long term answers either, so why not give natural treatments for gout a try.  Here are three ways to get rid of gout pain naturally.

1. Watermelon.  This wonderful fruit may not be one of the first you think about when you have gout, but it is a fruit you should definitely give a try.  This summertime favorite has more water than any other fruit and water plays a very important part in treating gout.  Getting enough water enables the body to get rid of uric acid crystals that are causing the attack.  While you should drink plenty of water, some experts have suggested that around two thirds of our water intake should come from water dense food and watermelon certainly fits into that category.

2. Cantaloupe.  This is another fruit that is not commonly thought of in connection with gout, but indirectly it is a good way to treat gout.  A long with watermelon, cantaloupe is water dense food, but it's true benefit for gout comes from it's vitamin C content.  This potent immune system vitamin also has the ability to lower uric acid levels.  What a better way to get rid of an attack by preventing one in the first place.

3. Cherries.  Eating cherries for gout definitely is beneficial.  This tasty fruit has been used for a very long time in treating this disease.  This is because cherries have many properties that not only treat gout pain, such as their anthocyanins, but also prevent gout, including vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants.

Watermelon, cantaloupe, and cherries are great natural remedies you can use to help you get rid of gout pain naturally.  If you're tired of constant gout attacks, add these fruits to your diet and see if they work for you.
