I remember the first diet I went on and it was when I was a teenager.  I didn’t know a lot about nutrition back then I thought that if I starved myself I could get good results in terms of weight loss.  So I went ahead and limited myself to eating salad and I got the results I wanted.  But I’m sure you can predict what happened next.  Eventually my cravings for real food became so strong that I ended up overeating and gaining all of the week back.  It only took about a month before my body started to react in a way as if it were starving.  And if you think about it, I did literally starve my body so it’s not unexpected that it would overcompensate by slowing down my metabolism and increasing my cravings.  I learn the hard way that there is no easy method for weight loss and it takes dedication to lose pounds and keep them off.

I am still tempted by fad diets from time to time although I’m smart enough not to follow them.  I prefer to cook food for myself so that I have control over the ingredients that I use.  I figure that education is the best thing possible so I try to learn about different foods and how to prepare them in delicious ways.  The number one thing I wanted to make sure of was not eliminating the joy of eating by adopting a fat loss diet that was tasteless and bland.  I knew that I would not be able to resist certain cravings so I make sure not to deprive myself of any food group.  I have also taken the time to enroll in various cooking classes where their specialization is teaching people how to cook healthy dishes.  All of this has meant I have been able to prepare some miraculous dishes while sharing the information I have learned to friends and family.
